Coming from the dense forests of Peru, this titan sized beetle possesses a psychedelic pattern on its elytra thought to possibly aid in camouflage when sitting on the bark of trees!
The males use their massive mandibles to compete for females and can grow up to 17cm (6.7in) long!
Despite their bulky appearance, this insect masterpiece is fully capable of flying for short periods of time to track down a females pheromone signals.
